Radia Radiology Group Faces Investigation Over Massive Data Breach

The Chaos ransomware group claims to have siphoned 655 gigabytes of internal files from Radia, Inc., a Washington-based medical provider serving over 50 clinics. While the breach surfaced on the hackers' leak site on July 16, the radiology group has yet to officially acknowledge the incident or notify state authorities.

Law firm Schubert Jonckheer & Kolbe LLP has launched an investigation into the security failure, citing potential violations of state and federal notification laws. The stolen dataset reportedly contains a granular inventory of sensitive information, including Social Security numbers, full medical histories, diagnostic imaging reports, and internal human resources documents. The breadth of the exposure leaves an indeterminate number of patients and employees vulnerable to identity theft and long-term privacy risks. Legal representatives are now evaluating whether Radia’s current cybersecurity protocols were sufficient to protect this volume of personal health data. Patients and staff affiliated with the network are encouraged to monitor their financial accounts as the firm assesses the feasibility of seeking damages and court-mandated security reforms.
