Group 1 Automotive Unifies Lubbock Dealerships Under Single Brand

Seven Lubbock-based dealerships have shed their former Hub City branding to adopt the Group 1 name, concluding a five-month transition period that ended in May 2026. The move consolidates the retailer's presence in the West Texas market while retaining local staff and existing operational structures at every location.

The rebranding effort encompasses a diverse portfolio of domestic, import, and luxury franchises, alongside the specialized Group 1 Accessories Hub City outlet. Despite the shift in signage, the company maintains that ownership and daily operations remain identical to the previous setup. This alignment allows the Fortune 250 retailer to present a consistent corporate identity across its concentrated single-market footprint.

John Lukehart, the company’s DFW and Northwest Texas Market Director, emphasized that the change prioritizes service uniformity for regional drivers. By bringing Volkswagen, Ford, Lincoln, Toyota, Chevrolet, Kia, and Hyundai franchises under one banner, the firm aims to leverage its national resources to ensure a standardized customer experience regardless of the vehicle brand. The transition marks a strategic push by the parent organization to harmonize its retail presence across its 251 global dealerships.
