The investment includes support from the IFC-UK Market Accelerator for Green Construction, a blended finance program designed to incentivize sustainable building practices. By aligning with the Central Bank of Jordan’s Green Finance Strategy and the International Capital Market Association’s principles, the bank intends to standardize transparency and governance for environmental debt instruments in the region.

Haethum Buttikhi, Group CEO of Jordan Kuwait Bank, noted that the issuance builds on the momentum of the country’s inaugural green bond from 2023. The funds are earmarked for a diverse portfolio, including energy efficiency initiatives and blue finance. Momina Aijazuddin, IFC’s Regional Industry Director, stated that the partnership reflects a broader effort to strengthen the local financial sector while fostering job creation and long-term economic stability.
