Wellinks Secures $10 Million to Scale Predictive Respiratory Care

A decade-long shift toward remote monitoring hit a milestone today as Connecticut-based Wellinks secured $10 million in Series B funding. With backing from UMass Memorial Health, the company intends to transition its data-driven cardiopulmonary model from pilot programs into broader clinical application for high-risk patients.

The capital injection follows promising results from the Healthy at Home initiative, a joint effort with UMass Chan Medical School. Data showed that patients utilizing Wellinks’ Spire remote monitoring system saw a 60% reduction in 30-day hospital readmission rates, proving that proactive management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can significantly curtail emergency department reliance.

Jennifer Barretta, Wellinks’ interim CEO, stated that the funds will accelerate commercial expansion into underserved and rural markets. Beyond geography, the company plans to translate its respiratory success into other high-risk areas, specifically targeting congestive heart failure. By leveraging real-world clinical data, Wellinks aims to refine its predictive algorithms, which are currently designed to detect physiological decline up to one week before patients experience symptomatic distress.
