Embecta Faces Securities Lawsuit Over Insulin Needle Business Claims

A class action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey alleges Embecta Corp. misled shareholders regarding the stability of its insulin pen needle business. Investors who suffered losses between November 25, 2025, and May 4, 2026, now face an August 17 deadline to seek lead plaintiff status.

The legal action, currently under investigation by Hagens Berman, centers on claims that Embecta management repeatedly described its core pen needle portfolio as resilient and stable while allegedly concealing significant competitive share losses and retail market softness. These assurances were purportedly maintained even as the company faced internal knowledge of declining performance.

The discrepancy surfaced on May 5, 2026, when the company released second-quarter fiscal results. Embecta revealed a sharp revenue decline, forced a 43% cut to its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance, and slashed its quarterly dividend from $0.15 to $0.01 per share. The disclosure triggered a 57.8% drop in the company's stock price within a single trading session. Reed Kathrein, a partner at Hagens Berman, noted that the firm is focused on the contradiction between the company's previous financial guidance and the reality of the market headwinds reported in May.
