Rivermont Schools Opens Specialized Danville Campus

A ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 10 marks the official debut of Rivermont Schools’ new Danville facility, a 20,000-square-foot site designed to support students with autism and complex learning needs. The event invites local families and district partners to tour the expanded classrooms and dedicated therapeutic spaces for the first time.

The new campus at 301 Lowes Drive represents a significant shift for the organization, which has served the Danville area for 28 years. The facility houses 14 classrooms alongside specialized areas including a gymnasium, library, and sensory room. These additions aim to provide a structured environment where students between the ages of 5 and 22 can develop academic and self-regulation skills.

Principal Tia Hairston described the expansion as a milestone for the community, emphasizing that the layout was crafted specifically for individualized instruction and student growth. The open house runs from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for noon. This expansion allows the school to increase its capacity for students requiring behavioral support and therapeutic programming within the New Story network.
