Roberts’ commitment to the cause is rooted in his upbringing in an African American community where diabetes was widespread. The appointment follows the June 13, 2026, Tour de Cure event held at Domino's Farms in Ann Arbor. That fundraiser successfully generated $370,305 for medical research and advocacy initiatives. Caracal, which has been a consistent supporter of the organization, contributed $2,530 to the total as a team. The American Diabetes Association currently coordinates a massive network of 565,000 volunteers and 12,000 healthcare professionals to address the systemic challenges of obesity and diabetes management across the country.
