The collaboration, formalized via a Memorandum of Understanding at the 16th ECSA-HC Best Practice Forum in Manzini, Eswatini, seeks to integrate advanced digital tools into the health systems of member states including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Skye Africa Intelligence—a joint venture between Valio Technologies and Brand Engagement Network—will provide the technological infrastructure, including its Skye Salud platform, to support disease surveillance and diagnostics.
A central component of the agreement involves establishing a Regional AI Health Development Lab. This hub is designed to foster innovation and standardize the deployment of secure AI across the ECSA-HC region. Beyond disease tracking, the partners are customizing a student-focused mental health solution, developed in collaboration with Nelson Mandela University, to address the specific needs of diverse populations across the member states. ECSA-HC Director-General Dr. Ntuli A. Kapologwe and Skye CEO Lefentse Nokaneng have prioritized the creation of a joint action plan to translate these goals into measurable outcomes for regional health colleges and state systems.
