The company’s gross margin expanded to 54.3% from 27.5% in the prior year, a shift heavily influenced by the U.S. Supreme Court’s February 2026 ruling regarding IEEPA tariff refunds. Scott Tidey, President and CEO, noted that the company plans to reinvest a portion of these funds into brand awareness and product demand initiatives.
Operating performance benefited from a volume recovery in the U.S. consumer segment, where retailers had previously pulled back on orders to navigate tariff-related price hikes. Despite the strong quarterly figures, Hamilton Beach faces rising expenses, with SG&A costs increasing to $34.3 million due to personnel incentives and $1.4 million in accelerated depreciation tied to a legacy ERP system upgrade. Looking ahead, the company is maintaining its 2026 revenue outlook while adjusting its profit expectations to account for $6 million in planned advertising investments and continued technical infrastructure costs.
