Dodge Expands Factory Customization with New Color Jailbreak Program

Dodge is pushing deeper into factory-level personalization, unveiling the Durango R/T 392 Smokescreen concept at the Roadkill Nights event in Pontiac, Michigan. The automaker used the gathering to preview a new Color Jailbreak initiative, aimed at bringing high-impact, custom color options to a broader range of performance vehicle enthusiasts.

The Smokescreen concept serves as a visual manifesto for the brand's new design direction. Finished in a distinct Smokescreen exterior, the SUV features Cryo Blue graphics and matching forged Y-spoke wheels. Inside, the cabin is fitted with Petrol Blue Laguna leather, reflecting a shift toward more bespoke interior environments. Beyond the concept, Dodge is introducing Tinted Dual Stripes for the Durango and Charger—a translucent finish that interacts with the base paint to create a custom tone-on-tone effect.

CEO Matt McAlear emphasized that the goal is to make specialized aesthetics more accessible, moving beyond the limited-run "halo" vehicles of the past. By expanding the Color Jailbreak program, Dodge intends to offer consumers a wider palette of exterior colors, including the recently added Redeye finish, and combinations like the Brass Monkey package. The company plans to release full program details later this year, using feedback from Roadkill Nights attendees to refine which custom looks will transition from show concepts to production reality.
