HD Hyundai Lands Record $673.8 Million U.S. Data Center Power Deal

A 1,000-megawatt power generation contract marks the largest engine order in HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' history. Signed with U.S. infrastructure developer Corban Energy Group, the deal positions the South Korean manufacturer as a critical supplier for the country’s rapidly expanding fleet of artificial intelligence and cloud computing data centers.

The agreement centers on the deployment of 9.6-megawatt HiMSEN engines, systems engineered for the high-output, continuous operation required by modern data infrastructure. This order eclipses a previous $425 million contract secured in April with AEG, signaling a deepening commitment to the U.S. energy market. The engines are expected to provide the consistent power reliability necessary for facilities operating 24/7.

Demand for such equipment is surging as U.S. data centers face mounting pressure from AI integration. Data from the Electric Power Research Institute suggests electricity consumption from these facilities could triple by 2030. HD Hyundai is positioning its various subsidiaries to capture this shift, with other group entities already targeting floating data centers, power distribution systems, and specialized maintenance services to build a comprehensive footprint in the sector.
