The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane is currently operating through seven local churches to provide sanctuary for the displaced. These sites serve as critical hubs for distributing food, fuel, and emergency cash assistance, reaching impacted populations in Spokane and tribal communities near Yakima. The effort remains focused on immediate relief as the Old Trails, Autumn Lane, and Fairview fires continue to threaten the region, alongside persistent blazes in Okanogan County.

Katie Mears, Senior Technical Specialist for US Disaster & Climate Risk, noted that local partners moved into action immediately to minister to families driven from their homes. Episcopal Relief & Development is providing direct support to sustain these church-led operations as they coordinate aid for survivors and those working to contain the ongoing fire activity.
