Dr. Brown brings extensive clinical expertise to the role, holding board certifications in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and clinical informatics. Her history with the Chicago-based organization spans over a decade, including previous service on the Board of Directors and as the society's Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Greg Davis, President of ASCP, praised her selection, noting that her combination of medical knowledge and deep sensitivity to member needs is essential for addressing current workforce pressures and diagnostic technology shifts.

During her year as interim head, Dr. Brown prioritized direct engagement with residents, students, and laboratory professionals. She intends to continue this collaborative approach, focusing on modernizing the society's advocacy and educational programs. As she steps into the permanent role, her agenda remains centered on workforce development and maintaining the organization’s influence within the broader healthcare ecosystem. Founded in 1922, the society currently represents more than 100,000 pathologists and laboratory professionals worldwide.
