Ten Communities Honored with 2026 All-America City Awards

Ten U.S. cities have earned the National Civic League’s 2026 All-America City Award, a distinction honoring locales that successfully bridge the gap between residents, local government, and businesses to tackle pressing civic challenges during a year centered on the theme of strengthening democracy ahead of the nation's 250th anniversary.

The finalists gathered in Denver, Colorado, from June 26-28 to present their grassroots initiatives before a panel of jurors. The competition, which has highlighted civic innovation since 1949, shifted its focus this year toward how municipalities can build trust and foster inclusive environments. The winning cities include Chelsea, Massachusetts; Franklin, Tennessee; Harlingen, Texas; Montgomery, Alabama; and Morrisville, North Carolina.

Rounding out the list are Norfolk, Virginia; North Charleston, South Carolina; Riviera Beach, Florida; Roanoke, Virginia; and Woodburn, Oregon. These communities were selected for their ability to move beyond mere economic metrics, instead proving that collaborative problem-solving leads to more responsive local institutions. HelloNation is spotlighting these winners to showcase how diverse regions—ranging from small towns to urban centers—are utilizing civic participation to address specific neighborhood needs.
