Kaman's Art Shoppes Faces Class Action Over Alleged Labor Violations

San Diego employment attorneys at Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP have initiated a class action lawsuit against Kaman's Art Shoppes, Inc., alleging the company systematically denied workers mandatory meal and rest periods while failing to provide accurate wage statements and proper overtime compensation in violation of California labor law.

The lawsuit, filed under Case No. 26CU037606C in the San Diego Superior Court, centers on claims that the company forced staff to work through off-duty breaks and manipulated time-rounding practices to avoid paying statutorily required penalties. Plaintiffs contend that these rigorous scheduling demands resulted in employees working shifts exceeding five hours without the legally mandated meal periods.

Beyond break violations, the complaint outlines a broader pattern of non-compliance, including allegations of unpaid minimum and overtime wages, failure to reimburse necessary business expenses, and withholding required sick leave. Legal counsel for the plaintiffs cites multiple breaches of the California Labor Code, specifically sections 201-203, 226, and 2802. The firm is currently seeking damages and civil penalties on behalf of the affected workers.
