Participants in the V2X Pilot Program gain the ability to power their homes during blackouts for up to 10 days using their vehicle's battery. The system intelligently manages energy usage, charging during off-peak hours and selling excess power back to the grid when utility prices spike. Homeowners stand to save approximately $1,300 annually through these automated energy exchanges.

To qualify for the fully subsidized hardware and installation, applicants must own or lease a 2018–2025 Nissan Leaf, a 2025 Polestar 3, or a 2025 Volvo EX90. Eligibility is restricted to those who do not currently have solar or home storage systems already installed. The program seeks to collect real-world performance data to inform future grid resiliency strategies across the state. Applications remain open through September 30, 2026, though funding is capped and spots are awarded on a first-come basis.
