LegalZoom Faces Investor Scrutiny After Revenue Guidance Cut

A sharp reversal in financial outlook at LegalZoom.com has triggered a securities investigation, with shareholders questioning whether the company misled them about the efficiency of its customer-acquisition strategies before slashing its annual revenue guidance and announcing a 13% workforce reduction on August 5.

In May 2026, LegalZoom projected full-year revenue between $810 million and $830 million, crediting high-value growth initiatives and steady partner channel momentum. By August, management retracted that optimism, lowering the target to a range of $795 million to $805 million. The company cited a decline in business-formation activity, specifically noting that Google search traffic had weakened while paid search acquisition costs escalated.

Legal firm Levi & Korsinsky, operating under the SueWallSt brand, is now probing whether these disclosures were delayed. The investigation centers on an April 2026 proxy statement that touted AI as a tool for service relevance, even as internal conditions regarding search-based traffic were reportedly deteriorating. Investors who purchased shares prior to the August guidance cut are being encouraged to submit brokerage records for a loss evaluation to determine if the stock was traded at artificially inflated prices.
