Security Chiefs Form Consortium to Standardize Enterprise AI Governance

The newly launched AI Trust and Security Consortium (AITSC) is recruiting 50 enterprise technology leaders to develop peer-defined governance models for artificial intelligence. By bypassing traditional, slower standards bodies, the group aims to establish practical, board-ready frameworks that address the immediate security risks inherent in large-scale AI deployment.

Founding members include industry veterans from Salesforce, Dell, and Protegrity, who argue that current security frameworks remain ill-equipped for AI-driven environments. Instead of relying on theoretical white papers, the consortium focuses on sharing confidential data regarding real-world incidents, vendor performance, and specific technical failures. This practitioner-led approach seeks to bridge the gap between rapid AI adoption and the lack of standardized safety guardrails.

Recent data highlights the urgency of this initiative. A 2026 McKinsey survey noted that only one-third of organizations currently possess mature AI governance, while the Linux Foundation reports that security concerns have surged to become the primary barrier for AI adoption. With agents now capable of holding credentials and executing actions, members intend to codify defenses that account for modern threats like prompt injection and data leakage. The consortium is currently accepting applications from CISOs, CTOs, and heads of security architecture operating in regulated sectors such as finance, healthcare, and energy.
