Pyrotecnico Sets Global Record with 840,537-Firework Display

Over the National Mall on July 4, 2026, the sky erupted with 840,537 pyrotechnics, securing a Guinness World Record for the largest fireworks display in history. The spectacle, which surpassed the previous record by nearly 30,000 units, served as the centerpiece for the United States’ 250th birthday celebration in Washington, D.C.

The massive production required six months of design and three weeks of on-site installation. A crew of 75 specialists utilized 50 trucks to deploy 168,000 pounds of explosives across the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, West Potomac Park, and eight barges anchored in the Potomac River. Despite a brief interruption from thunderstorms, the 40-minute display proceeded to a global audience.

Pyrotecnico, a New Castle, Pennsylvania-based firm, executed the show alongside the Freedom 250 organization and Event Strategies, Inc. CEO Stephen Vitale described the project as an attempt to translate 250 years of history into a single, choreographed event. Following the display, President Trump praised the performance, labeling it the most impressive fireworks show he had witnessed. The achievement marks a significant milestone for the fifth-generation company, which has operated for 135 years.
