Skanska Secures $68 Million Contract for Durham Medical Campus

Construction giant Skanska has inked a $68 million deal with UNC Health to build a new medical office complex and parking structure in Durham, North Carolina. This contract marks the initial phase of a greenfield campus development, with the project costs slated for inclusion in the firm’s third-quarter order bookings.

The project encompasses a six-floor, 17,700-square-meter medical facility alongside an 890-space parking deck. To streamline the construction process, Skanska plans to utilize significant prefabrication techniques, including unitized curtainwall systems, exterior cladding, and offsite-built exam room pods. These methods are intended to establish new design and construction benchmarks for future UNC Health outpatient facilities.

Work on the site began in June 2026, with the full scope of site development and core infrastructure scheduled for completion by April 2028.
