WovenEarth Ventures Raises $155 Million for Cleantech 2.0 Strategy

Palo Alto-based WovenEarth Ventures has finalized its second fund at $155 million, pushing the firm’s total assets under management to $330 million. The investment platform focuses on early-stage companies, betting that the next wave of industrial innovation will be defined by energy efficiency and resilience rather than niche environmental impact.

Managing partner Jane Woodward characterizes this shift as "Cleantech 2.0," moving away from traditional green investments toward companies that improve profitability and mitigate risk in sectors like AI-driven power demand and domestic supply chains. The firm argues that these entities are fundamentally better businesses that happen to operate within the clean economy.

Fund II utilizes a dual-track strategy, allocating two-thirds of its capital to a select group of U.S. early-stage funds and reserving the remaining third for direct co-investments. This approach aims to provide exposure to more than 250 companies. The portfolio already includes commitments across geothermal energy, robotics, critical minerals, and orchestration software. The firm maintains a loyal investor base, with institutions like The Pennsylvania State University, Glenmede, and the J.M. Huber Corporation backing the latest vehicle.
