The federal approval, announced by Minister Julie Aviva Dabrusin, allows the company to move forward with the Springpole site. This development follows extensive negotiations, including a term sheet with Cat Lake and Lac Seul First Nations, who completed an independent impact assessment and authorized the project under 35 specific conditions. Additionally, the company finalized a landmark agreement to support the construction of an all-season road serving the Cat Lake community.
Financial liquidity remains a core focus, with the company reporting $40.5 million in cash and marketable securities as of June 30, 2026. Portfolio activity also saw adjustments at the Pickle Crow Gold Project, where partner Bellavista Resources Ltd exercised a buy-down right. This transaction brought $3 million in cash to First Mining while shifting their ownership stake to 20%, though the interest remains free-carried until a formal decision to mine is reached.
Exploration efforts continue to yield results at the Duparquet Gold Project in Quebec. Drilling at the Minuit zone and along the Beattie syenite intrusion margins has consistently revealed high-grade gold mineralization. These efforts are bolstered by a new partnership with Forage Anicinape, an Indigenous-led drilling firm, reflecting the company’s broader strategy of integrating local collaboration with geoscience-driven exploration across its primary Canadian assets.
