EnableComp Acquires Helix Advisory to Target Hidden Hospital Revenue

Franklin-based EnableComp has acquired Cincinnati’s Helix Advisory, seeking to close a massive gap in healthcare revenue recovery. By integrating Helix’s diagnostic technology, EnableComp aims to capture billions in underpayments that traditional, rules-based audit systems currently overlook by relying on outdated claim-size thresholds and rigid logic.

The acquisition centers on incorporating Helix’s clinical signal detection and root-cause analytics into the EnableComp platform. While conventional audit software typically searches for predetermined errors, the new capabilities allow the system to identify discrepancies between coding and actual payer reimbursements autonomously. This shift enables hospitals to address complex, low-value claims that were previously deemed too costly to audit manually.

Frank Forte, CEO of EnableComp, stated that the technology moves beyond standard engines to provide genuine intelligence, effectively preventing future losses rather than merely recovering past ones. Zack Higbie, founder of Helix Advisory, joins the executive team as vice president of Revenue Recovery Products to oversee the integration. Early implementations have reportedly generated net revenue improvements exceeding 2% for participating healthcare providers.

This move addresses a significant systemic issue: the American Hospital Association estimates that Medicare and Medicaid underpay hospitals by more than $130 billion annually, with commercial payers contributing further to the deficit. EnableComp, which currently services over 1,000 hospitals and recovers roughly $3 billion per year, plans to unify these diagnostic tools into its existing e360 RCM platform to streamline the recovery process.
