Cohen & Steers Targets Resource Scarcity with New Real Assets ETF

Cohen & Steers has launched the Real Assets Active ETF (CSRA), a new NYSE Arca-listed vehicle designed to navigate an era of global resource scarcity. The fund provides diversified, actively managed exposure to real estate, infrastructure, natural resources, and commodities within a single investment strategy.

Vince Childers, head of real assets multi-strategy, argues that investors require more than traditional inflation hedges to combat the pressures of deglobalization and supply constraints. By blending these four asset classes, the firm aims to capture long-term total return potential while maintaining positive inflation sensitivity. The launch marks a strategic expansion for the New York-based firm, which has historically focused on listed real assets and alternative income solutions.

Alex Berg, head of ETF sales, noted that the move reflects a broader shift toward active management as investors seek more differentiated portfolio tools. The CSRA joins a growing lineup of active ETFs from the firm, including those focused on infrastructure and natural resources. While the fund offers a consolidated approach, the company warns that investing in real assets carries inherent risks, including market volatility and the impact of regulatory or environmental changes on underlying sectors.
