The partnership marks a shift in how FirstLight manages its expansive footprint, which currently spans over 20,000 route miles. By moving away from fragmented legacy data, the company gains a GIS-integrated view of its physical assets. This precision allows engineering and sales teams to pinpoint capacity and availability in real time, cutting down the interval between customer orders and service activation.
Mike Constantino, Chief Operating Officer at FirstLight, noted that the implementation speed—roughly two and a half months—was significantly faster than the industry standard of six to twelve months for migrations of this magnitude. This efficiency allows the company to handle repairs more effectively while scaling its fiber network to meet demand from wireless carriers, healthcare systems, and financial institutions. Will Mitchell, CEO of VETRO, credited the project's success to a clean data migration strategy that positions FirstLight to manage its complex infrastructure with greater agility.
