Nauticus Robotics Shifts Strategy Amid Second Quarter Revenue Decline

Nauticus Robotics reported second-quarter revenue of $0.9 million, down from $2.1 million in the same period last year, as the Houston-based firm pivots toward software licensing and defense contracts. The company is attempting to stabilize its financial position while expanding the reach of its autonomous subsea technology.

CEO John Gibson noted that the company is adapting to challenging market conditions, particularly in the US Gulf Coast offshore energy sector. To offset these headwinds, Nauticus is diversifying its commercial pipeline, targeting offshore wind projects on the East Coast and pursuing international expansion where it can act as a primary contractor. A key component of this transition is the recent commercial release of Nauticus ToolKITT, a software platform designed to improve efficiency for remote-operated vehicles.

While the company faces fiscal pressure—reporting a net loss of $11.1 million for the quarter and holding $2.0 million in cash as of June 30—management is betting on government and defense sectors to drive future growth. Nauticus recently completed an initial scope of work for a potential multiphase defense project that could impact revenue in 2026 and 2027. Development continues on a next-generation electric manipulator, which the firm expects will lower manufacturing costs and support future autonomous subsea operations.
