Alibaba, Visa, and Wells Fargo Join Agentic AI Foundation

The Agentic AI Foundation has expanded its reach by adding 57 new member organizations, bringing its total global membership to 247. The intake includes three major Gold-tier participants—Alibaba, Visa, and Wells Fargo—signaling a shift toward standardized, interoperable infrastructure for automated AI agents in high-stakes financial and enterprise sectors.

The influx of new members, which includes 33 Silver and 21 Associate organizations, follows the release of the foundation's latest momentum report. The study highlights a shift in the open-source agentic AI ecosystem, moving from fragmented experimental projects toward a mature, interconnected stack. For financial institutions like Visa and Wells Fargo, joining the foundation represents a strategic move to secure interoperability and governance in domains where compliance is critical, such as digital payments and large-scale banking operations.

Executive Director Mazin Gilbert emphasized that neutrality is the primary draw for these global players. As companies prepare to deploy agents at scale, they require a stable, open-source foundation to prevent vendor lock-in and ensure reliable cross-platform communication. The announcement comes as the foundation intensifies its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, marked by the MCP Dev Summit in Seoul and upcoming events in Japan and China. Regional leaders, including South Korea's ETRI and NHN KCP, are contributing to this drive, effectively positioning the region as a central hub for the development of the so-called Internet of Agents.
