Artmarket.com pivots to AI-first architecture for art market data

Artmarket.com is shifting its primary operational strategy from incremental software updates to a total 'AI-first' metamorphosis, according to CEO Thierry Ehrmann. The company, which manages the Artprice database, intends to replace piecemeal modules with a unified, sovereign artificial intelligence engine designed to provide predictive market intelligence.

The transition marks a departure from the company's previous approach of gradually injecting AI into its 30-year-old infrastructure. By abandoning incremental deployment, the firm aims to avoid the operational inconsistencies often found when legacy systems are retrofitted with modern software. This strategic pivot involves an internal overhaul of data pipelines, where all production units are being equipped with dedicated hardware and deep learning algorithms to standardize the company's 180 proprietary databases.

Financial backing for this shift remains robust, with the Ehrmann family and Groupe Serveur planning to increase their shareholding in the company. Despite minor adjustments to the public release schedule, the company reports steady revenue growth, which it credits to the independence afforded by its proprietary data assets. The firm is currently utilizing two key AI architectures, Intuitive Art Market and Blind Spot, to move beyond simple data aggregation toward an autonomous, agent-based model. These systems are designed to provide subscribers with predictive scenarios and market risk analysis, rather than just historical search results. The company expects these tools to establish a dominant position in the global art market by controlling the entire data lifecycle, from raw capture at auction houses to high-level strategic decision-making.
