Astara intends to scale the business by enhancing its design-build-own-operate-maintain capabilities and expanding into adjacent technical markets. The firm views the acquisition as a strategic play on North American manufacturing reshoring and increasingly stringent environmental regulations surrounding industrial discharge. Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
Leadership changes follow the deal, with industry veteran Hu Fleming joining as Executive Chairman. Dynatec founder Tom Doherty will retain a significant ownership stake and continue his involvement with the business. According to Astara partner Lindsey Tannenbaum, the firm plans to prioritize organic growth and process improvements to address the mounting pressure on manufacturers to treat complex waste streams efficiently.
