Scientific Games to Overhaul Western Canada Lottery Retail Tech

More than 5,000 lottery retailers across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are set for a digital transformation as the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC) integrates a new suite of hardware and software from Scientific Games, aiming to boost efficiency and player engagement across the region.

The partnership introduces advanced point-of-sale systems, specifically the WAVE terminals and PlayCentral self-service kiosks, to the WCLC network. These tools leverage AI and data analytics to streamline operations for retailers while modernizing the purchasing experience for consumers. This move follows a strong financial year for the WCLC, which reported over $1.56 billion in sales in 2025, yielding $481 million in returns for member governments.

Scientific Games has maintained a relationship with the WCLC since 1999, previously supplying central gaming systems and sports wagering platforms. According to WCLC President and CEO Chris Santschi, the investment is vital for maintaining long-term revenue sustainability. Michael Cardell, Senior VP of Commercial Strategy for Scientific Games, noted that the deployment is part of a broader momentum for the firm, which currently services over 70 lotteries globally. The new contract expands an existing portfolio that includes the recent award for the corporation's iLottery solution.
