Racing Returns to the Capital: White House Historical Association Podcast

Four blocks from the White House, where a racecourse stood in 1797, IndyCar racing is returning to the president's neighborhood. To mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, the White House Historical Association has launched a podcast episode featuring AJ Foyt Racing figures ahead of the upcoming Washington D.C. Grand Prix.

The latest episode of "The White House 1600 Sessions" features Association President Stewart McLaurin in conversation with AJ Foyt Racing Team Principal Larry Foyt and driver Santino Ferrucci. The discussion highlights the intersection of motorsport culture and American history, honoring the legacy of the late Marlyne Sexton, a founding member of the National Council on White House History and a long-time supporter of the racing team.

For Ferrucci, the upcoming event represents a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between high-speed competition and civic unity. Beyond the track, the collaboration serves a philanthropic purpose. A partnership between the Association, the racing team, and the nonprofit Homes For Our Troops will feature exclusive merchandise sold at "The People's House" on Pennsylvania Avenue. Proceeds are earmarked to support the Association’s educational mission and the construction of custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans.
