Prospera Market Strategies Hits $250M Milestone in Settlement Assets

Austin-based Prospera Market Strategies marked five years of its Growth Structured Settlement solution today, surpassing $250 million in assets under administration. The program, which integrates market-based investment strategies into the traditional settlement framework, has gained traction across 35 states as a hedge against inflation and rising healthcare costs.

Since its 2021 inception, the Growth Structured Settlement (GSS) model has moved beyond a niche offering to become a standard tool for plaintiff attorneys and settlement consultants. The program currently manages an average case size of $587,000, drawing backing from over 120 assigning entities, including more than 70 property and casualty insurance carriers. By pairing tax-free growth—available under IRC Section 104(a)(2)—with professionally managed portfolios, the firm aims to preserve purchasing power for claimants whose needs often span decades.

The evolution of the platform reflects a broader shift in the legal settlement industry, where traditional fixed-rate annuities are increasingly supplemented by diversified equity strategies. As of mid-2026, investments utilizing Vanguard’s LifeStrategy 80/20 Fund reported trailing five-year returns of 8.78%. Chris Shumate, Executive Director of Centurion Investment Holdings, noted that the platform was built to address the reality that financial security for injured parties requires more than just capital certainty; it demands protection against long-term inflationary pressures. Prospera now oversees a total of $1.6 billion in market-based settlement assets, cementing its position as a primary administrator for these specialized financial instruments.
