Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK Launches Passenger Service at Efteling

Navigating the bustling grounds of Efteling, Karsan’s Autonomous e-ATAK began transporting visitors on August 12, 2026. This deployment marks a shift for the Netherlands’ North Brabant region, as the driverless bus now handles a 6-kilometer route between the theme park’s main transit hub and local guest accommodations.

The vehicle operates using SAE Level-4 technology, navigating mixed traffic to connect the Efteling Hoofdingang and Wonderhotel stops. Designed with accessibility at its core, the service is free and accommodates passengers with disabilities, aiming to integrate advanced autonomous transit into the daily rhythm of one of Europe’s most visited destinations.

This project follows Karsan’s previous deployment at Rotterdam The Hague Airport, reinforcing the company’s foothold in the Dutch market. CEO Utku Ayyarkın noted that the selection of their technology for a globally recognized site serves as a benchmark for the maturity of their autonomous systems. The initiative represents a broad public-private collaboration involving Arriva, the Province of North Brabant, the Municipality of Loon op Zand, and several technology partners, including ADASTEC and Applied Autonomy. By embedding these vehicles into real-world visitor transit, the consortium intends to provide a tangible model for sustainable and inclusive urban mobility.
