Poolking Shifts Commercial Filtration Toward Fiberglass Tech

Guangdong-based Poolking is challenging the traditional dominance of stainless steel in large-scale aquatic infrastructure by scaling up bobbin-wound fiberglass filtration. These composite vessels, capable of reaching three meters in diameter, offer a lighter, corrosion-resistant alternative for water parks, aquariums, and commercial lagoons worldwide.

The shift toward fiberglass reflects a broader change in how engineering firms evaluate aquatic infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on hydraulic capacity, contractors are prioritizing logistics, installation ease, and lifecycle durability. By utilizing a continuous filament-winding process, Poolking produces vessels that maintain structural integrity under high pressure while eliminating the risk of coating failure common in metal tanks. These units are currently deployed in facilities ranging from marine-life parks in China to specialized zoo and aquarium installations across Europe.

Market demand for such solutions is rising alongside the global expansion of the water-treatment industry, which Grand View Research projects will reach $106 billion by 2033. As water reuse becomes a priority for utilities, manufacturers are also introducing high-precision technology like regenerative perlite filters capable of capturing particles as small as 1 micron. For Poolking General Manager Victor P., the transition in material selection is a necessary evolution. He notes that the conversation has moved beyond basic specifications to encompass the entire operational lifespan of the equipment, from initial transit to long-term maintenance in chemically demanding environments.
