The lawsuit, filed by Robbins LLP, claims Hub Group misled stakeholders regarding its financial health, internal controls, and revenue recognition practices. According to the complaint, the company prematurely or incorrectly booked transactions throughout 2023 and 2024, while simultaneously understating transportation costs and accounts payable during the first three quarters of 2025.
The accounting issues prompted two major market reactions. In February 2026, the company admitted to a $77 million error regarding transportation costs, causing shares to drop 18%. A second blow arrived in May 2026, when management announced that financial reports for 2023 and 2024 were unreliable due to unsupported transactions, leading to a further 13% decline in share value. Investors seeking to participate in the litigation are not required to serve as lead plaintiffs to remain eligible for potential recovery, as the firm operates on a contingency fee basis.
