Komori transitions into this role while maintaining his current responsibilities as co-head of Japan Investment Banking. He will report directly to Peter Guenthardt, the head of Asia Pacific Global Corporate and Investment Banking. His mandate focuses on providing strategic guidance and expanding the firm’s industrial franchise throughout the region.
Working alongside him, Gao and Toda are tasked with driving business growth by coordinating with sector and country partners. Gao, a veteran of the company’s China Investment Banking team since 2015, joins Toda, who retains his existing oversight of Japan Industrials and Natural Resources. The duo will report to Guenthardt regionally, while maintaining a global reporting line to Loli Wu and Justin Anstee. This restructuring follows a broader push by the lender to bolster its investment banking coverage, including the recent addition of nine senior bankers in the U.S. to tap into rising demand from middle-market companies.
