Payment Asia Group Expands North American Reach with Motion Pay Merger

Hong Kong-based Payment Asia Group has solidified its footprint in the North American market by integrating the Canadian payment provider Motion Pay into its subsidiary, AlphaPay. This consolidation follows the firm's successful procurement of a Canadian Money Services Business licence, marking a shift in its regional cross-border payment strategy.

The acquisition combines Motion Pay’s established merchant network and operational resources with AlphaPay’s existing digital infrastructure. This merger aims to streamline payment processing for merchants navigating both local and international transactions. By consolidating these platforms, the group intends to offer a broader range of payment methods, including WeChat Pay, Alipay, UnionPay, Visa, Mastercard, and Interac, under a single, unified service architecture.

Kenneth Lai, founder and chairman of Payment Asia Group, noted that these developments are central to the firm's ambition of creating a compliant, scalable financial ecosystem. As Canadian merchants increasingly prioritize integrated platforms that balance security with flexible payment options, the company plans to continue investing in its local compliance and technology infrastructure to support further growth across the region.
