LifeLock Overhauls Security Suite to Combat AI-Driven Identity Theft

With generative AI enabling scammers to clone voices, forge IDs, and automate fraud at scale, LifeLock is pivoting its core protection strategy. The Gen-owned brand announced a comprehensive product redesign and new verification tools today, aiming to counter a surge in synthetic identity theft that now threatens individual and family finances.

The shift responds to data from the Fearless Planet Index, which tracked over 120 million phishing attacks in a single 30-day window. With malicious advertising and scams now accounting for 80% of identified cyber threats, LifeLock is moving beyond passive monitoring. The updated service includes real-time scam verification, which allows users to vet suspicious messages instantly, and a new Card Exposure Control feature designed to scrub exposed financial data from the internet.

General Manager Ian Bednowitz noted that the nature of the threat has evolved from simple data breaches to sophisticated, AI-generated impersonations that are increasingly difficult for consumers to identify. To address this, the company has streamlined its mobile and desktop interfaces, prioritizing one-click credit locks and immediate alert responses. These updates accompany a refreshed brand identity and a restructured plan lineup—Core, Advanced, and Total—intended to simplify how members manage their digital footprint. While the platform continues to offer its signature restoration services and reimbursement packages, the focus has shifted toward proactive interception to stop fraud before financial losses occur.
