For many small-scale food producers and distributors, managing inventory has long meant relying on spreadsheets to track batches manually. This labor-intensive approach often fails during product recalls or when managing shelf-life, yet the alternative has historically been prohibitively expensive ERP systems that require months of implementation and significant capital.
Louis Leung, co-founder and CEO of inFlow, notes that traceability is often treated as a luxury feature, leaving smaller companies without an efficient way to respond to operational issues. The updated platform, now available across inFlow Inventory and Manufacturing, automates batch movement history from receipt to final sale. It includes automated "first-expired-first-out" shipping logic, GS1 barcode support, and the ability to track both serial numbers and lot codes simultaneously. The update is included for users on Mid-Size plans and above, providing a digital alternative to paper-based tracking for sectors facing strict regulatory and safety requirements.
