Registration is currently open for the event, which invites teams of up to five members to build applications centered on image or video analysis. Organizers are particularly interested in projects involving active perception, multi-agent visual SLAM, and real-time spatial digital twin synchronization. To support development, up to 50 selected projects will receive AWS compute grants, with the foundation encouraging the use of the recently released Cloud Optimized OpenCV Library, which can deliver up to a 1.5x processing speedup on Graviton-based infrastructure.

Entries will be judged by an independent panel of industry and academic experts on criteria including technical execution, innovation, and documentation quality. While participants retain all intellectual property rights, the foundation encourages open-source releases. The competition build phase runs from August 26 through October 26, 2026, with top honors—including a $5,000 first-place award and two $1,000 special focus prizes—to be announced in November.
