Tokyo Summit to Address Production-Ready Agentic AI Standards

The Agentic AI Foundation will convene developers and enterprise engineers at Tokyo’s Belle Salle Shibuya Garden on September 10-11, 2026. The AGNTCon and MCPCon event aims to move autonomous systems beyond prototypes by tackling the critical infrastructure, security, and governance hurdles required for mission-critical deployment.

As Japanese enterprises transition AI agents into core business operations, the focus has shifted from experimental performance to reliability and auditability. The two-day program addresses this transition, featuring over 40 sessions on building trust boundaries, enforcing approval gates, and verifying agent outputs. Executive Director Mazin Gilbert noted that the gathering serves to showcase the rigorous technical work currently underway in the Asia-Pacific region, specifically regarding tool integration and multi-agent coordination.

The event highlights technical tracks including the "Open Agentic Stack," where teams from Hitachi, SoftBank, and NTT will share strategies for integrating open-source orchestration layers. A dedicated MCPCon track, featuring Anthropic’s David Soria Parra, will examine the Model Context Protocol’s role in standardized agent communication. Beyond theory, the conference includes hands-on certification pathways for the Model Context Protocol Associate (MCPA) to validate professional proficiency in these emerging standards. With support from companies like Google, Microsoft, and IBM, the summit provides a venue for practitioners to exchange trade-offs and lessons learned while scaling autonomous architectures.
