Truist Targets Mass Affluent Growth With Premier Banking Pivot

Charlotte-based Truist Financial is doubling down on its mass affluent strategy, launching the Truist Premier brand to capture clients with at least $100,000 in assets. The move aims to bridge a gap in the market where nearly half of eligible consumers currently lack access to professional financial advisory services.

The initiative consolidates personalized financial planning, dedicated support, and investment guidance under one umbrella. By integrating human advisors with the bank’s existing AI-driven insights platform—which has already generated over 2 billion personalized financial prompts—Truist aims to move beyond transactional banking toward a relationship-led model. The strategy appears to be gaining traction, with the firm reporting a 27% increase in Premier deposit production compared to the previous year.

To support this expansion, Truist is hiring additional advisors and redesigning physical branches to facilitate more complex, goal-oriented discussions. The program offers tiered benefits, including the new Marquee Checking account, designed to scale as a client’s wealth grows. For those crossing the $1 million threshold, the bank maintains a clear transition path to its dedicated Wealth division, ensuring continuity as client portfolios evolve.
