Apollo Reimagines Budget Commuting With Data-Driven Dash Scooter

Eighty-four percent of entry-level scooter trips span less than five miles, a reality that forced Apollo to abandon traditional design specs. By analyzing 600,000 rides, the Montreal-based company built the Dash—a sub-$799 vehicle that rejects unnecessary features like soft suspension in favor of high-end motor and build quality.

Instead of chasing range anxiety, Apollo engineers redirected the Dash’s budget toward components that survive daily use. The scooter features a 48-volt, 600-watt Bosch motor capable of 1,200W peak power, ensuring performance consistency even as the battery depletes. By stripping away complex, often unreliable suspension systems, the company invested in IP66-rated waterproofing and a rigid aluminum frame, both borrowed from their $2,800 flagship models.

Co-founder Maciek argues that the industry often masks poor quality with superficial additions. For the Dash, the design philosophy centers on longevity rather than paper specifications. The result is a 43-pound machine reaching 21 mph with a 25-mile range, supported by a lifetime frame warranty. This approach treats entry-level hardware not as a compromise, but as a discipline in matching engineering to actual rider behavior. The Dash is currently available for purchase through the company's website.
