Teamsters Secure New Contract at Fargo's Cass-Clay Creamery

More than 100 workers at the Cass-Clay Creamery in Fargo have ratified a new labor agreement with Dairy Farmers of America, ending a period of negotiations with a deal that secures wage increases, enhanced pension contributions, and improved healthcare coverage for the North Dakota facility’s staff.

The agreement marks a significant shift for the plant, which processes fluid milk and Stonyfield yogurt products for distribution across the Upper Midwest. Beyond immediate pay raises, the contract introduces successor language designed to protect staff during future ownership changes and establishes a formalized grievance and arbitration process to resolve workplace disputes.

Kevin Saylor, Vice President of Teamsters Local 120, credited the outcome to the unity of the workforce during the bargaining process. For employees like Matt Hussel, who has spent years at the Fargo facility, the contract offers tangible relief for their families. The union expects this deal to serve as a benchmark for labor standards across the broader Dairy Farmers of America network, signaling a strengthening of collective bargaining power for their 15,000 members across five states.
