A record 239 restaurants and caterers across Northern and Central California are receiving $5,000 grants to fuel growth and stabilize operations. The initiative targets independent operators with fewer than five locations and annual revenue under $3 million. Most recipients are single-location establishments that have anchored their communities for an average of 11 years, collectively employing nearly 2,900 workers. These funds, derived from shareholder contributions rather than customer utility bills, offer a vital lifeline for small businesses navigating ongoing economic volatility.

Restaurant owners are prioritizing capital improvements with their awards. Over 70% of recipients intend to upgrade kitchen equipment, while others are focusing on technology enhancements or employee retention programs. Since the inception of the Restaurants Care Resilience Fund, PG&E has contributed $5.7 million in total support, assisting over 1,100 businesses in their efforts to modernize and remain competitive.
