Joseph Petrelli, president of the Columbus-based firm Demotech, identified tech-enabled litigation as a significant disruption that has altered settlement timelines across all insurance sectors since 2015. The one-day event aims to unpack the mechanics of plaintiff-side legal maneuvers, including the role of outside funding and social media-driven claims targeting. Research conducted by Demotech in 2022 serves as the foundation for the discussion, highlighting what the firm describes as a systemic shift in the claims environment.

Steve Acunto, publisher of Business Insurance, noted that the seminar is designed to address a critical crisis for industry professionals, including actuaries, claims counsel, and chief financial officers. The program will explore how these evolving tactics interact with new technologies and artificial intelligence, offering a platform for experts to navigate the increasing financial pressures facing both carriers and their policyholders.
