The incoming directors bring extensive experience in regional tourism and community development. Amy Anderson, currently the Tourism Director for the Southeast Tennessee Development District, focuses on connecting visitors with locally owned businesses. Lauren Hurdle, who leads tourism in Jefferson County, Tennessee, adds expertise from her roles with the Middle East Tennessee Tourism Council. Marty Mabry joins with over 30 years of industry experience, following her tenure as the West Tennessee Division Manager for the state’s Department of Tourist Development.
These additions support the Council’s ongoing mission to protect natural resources and historic assets through sustainable tourism. The organization maintains a regional perspective, recognizing that cultural and economic landscapes do not adhere to state lines. By facilitating the Tennessee River Valley MapGuide and coordinating cross-state partnerships, the Council seeks to link rural and metro communities. Julie Graham, the volunteer Executive Director, noted that the organization’s work centers on helping residents recognize these shared connections to build long-term economic vitality. The board will operate under the 2026–2028 leadership of Tami Reist, who continues to serve as Chair.
