Sandiola Marks Four Years of Clinical Revenue Recovery for Hospitals

Four years after its founding, Encinitas-based Sandiola is celebrating a milestone in its mission to secure financial stability for community hospitals. The firm, which specializes in Clinical Documentation Integrity, reports that its clients now recapture an average of $1.1 million annually per 3,000 inpatient discharges through optimized reimbursement workflows.

The company’s growth trajectory aligns with the July 2026 deployment of Sandpiper, a custom AI engine built to streamline documentation accuracy. By utilizing advanced machine learning models, the system reviews inpatient encounters in under a second to identify high-yield cases for human oversight. This hybrid model allows hospital staff or Sandiola’s own dual-certified experts to address potential gaps in documentation before they lead to denials or downgrades.

CEO Vinnie Whibbs credits the firm’s success to the collaborative relationships formed with CFOs and health information management directors. According to the company, these partnerships are designed to ensure that community health systems gain access to the same sophisticated technology typically reserved for larger hospital networks. With a money-back guarantee on DRG recommendations, Sandiola aims to provide a safety net for facilities struggling to maintain margins. The company plans to showcase these capabilities at the upcoming AHIMA26 conference in San Antonio this October.
