The games on display emerged from the "Make Them Play" challenge, which attracted over 600 participants. Alexander Hoffmann, who claimed the $8,000 first prize for his title SurvAlvor of the Dead, developed a game capable of running on actual Game Boy hardware. Alongside fellow creators like James Blackburn, Hoffmann will be present at the Cologne event to demonstrate how the platform’s AI agent, Boo, handles asset generation, sound, and design.
Beyond the competitive entries, the platform has seen significant organic success. Cienly, a creator with no professional development background, built Default PFP Lab, an interactive experience that has already surpassed 300,000 plays. According to Gevin Wu, producer at Converge.AI, the goal is to remove the technical barriers that have historically restricted creative output. By enabling users to build through plain language, the company aims to expand the definition of who qualifies as a game developer. The team will remain in Hall 05, Stand D-011 through August 30, offering attendees the opportunity to build their own projects on-site.
