Founded in 2023 by WNBA stars Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, the league has distinguished itself by granting players significant ownership stakes. This latest round of financing boosts the value of the player equity pool to nearly $200 million, a 550% increase since the organization’s inception. The capital is earmarked for scaling operations and expanding the league's footprint within the global basketball ecosystem.

Investor interest remains high, with participation from figures including Jenny Just, Carmelo Anthony, Geno Auriemma, and Ashton Kutcher. This round builds upon a successful second season that saw the league expand to eight clubs and host record-breaking attendance at venues like Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. According to CEO Alex Bazzell, the funding provides the necessary resources to elevate both the fan experience and the competition level ahead of the third season, which is scheduled to tip off in January 2027 with national coverage on TNT Sports.
